MOLECULAR CHARACTERIZATION OF ELITE LINES OF PAPAYA (Carica papaya L.) VIA SSR MARKERS

چکیده

This study aimed to analyze the genetic variability and estimate diversity parameters of 23 elite papaya lines based on microsatellite molecular markers. The plant material was composed lines, 18 from 'Formosa' five 'Solo' group. expected heterozygosity (HE), observed (HO), coefficient inbreeding (ƒ) for each genotype were estimated. weighted index obtained dissimilarity matrix, estimated distance presented graphically through cluster analysis by Ward method, as well principal coordinates (PCoA). genotypes also analyzed structure, using Bayesian clustering method. Genetic among genotypes, mainly Formosa As HO, four ‘Solo’ group had values equal zero. However, ‘Formosa’ showed higher segregation in loci with ranging 0.05 0.14. About ƒ, group, exhibited maximum fixation indexes loci, variation 0.90 1.0, while a 0.61 1.00. These results indicate need greater care process obtaining seeds avoid pollen contamination, advance generations self-fertilization increase level ensure stability hybrids that are developed them.

The Medicinal Properties of the Papaya, Carica papaya L

Quite surprisingly, historians know little about Hippocrates, the physician often referred to as "the father of medicine". However, we do know that he was a strong advocate of the use of medicinal plants to prevent and cure diseases. He recorded between three hundred and four hundred plant remedies in his writing and during the middle ages herbal remedies were passed down from generation to gen...

Use of microsatellite markers in molecular analysis of segregating populations of papaya (Carica papaya L.) derived from backcrossing.

Brazil is the world leader in papaya production. However, only a small number of cultivars are registered for commercial planting, mainly owing to delays in obtaining cultivars and the high costs of the field phase of breeding programs. These costs can be reduced when molecular tools are combined with conventional breeding methods. In the present study, we conducted a molecular analysis of a se...

Genetic characterization of papaya plants (Carica papaya L.) derived from the first backcross generation.

The limited number of papaya varieties available reflects the narrow genetic base of this species. The use of backcrossing as a breeding strategy can promote increases in variability, besides allowing targeted improvements. Procedures that combine the use of molecular markers and backcrossing permit a reduction of the time required for introgression of genes of interest and appropriate recovery...

Characterization of a high oleic oil extracted from papaya (Carica papaya L.) seeds Caracterização de um óleo alto oleico extraído de sementes de mamão (Carica papaya L.)

Carica papaya L. seeds have been used for decades in parts of Asia and South America as a vermifugal agent (ADEBIYI; GANESAN ADAIKAN; PRASAD, 2003). In addition, papaya seed preparations have been used in folk medicine due to its abortive properties and to favor a good menstrual flow (RAO; JAMIR, 1982). Apart from these uses, since papaya seeds have a spicy flavor, they are used to adulterate b...

Characterization of the lipase from Carica papaya residues Caracterização da lipase de resíduos de Carica papaya

Lipases from vegetable sources have been the focus of intense and growing research. The use of enzymes from plants has the advantage of employing industrial waste products. Brazil is the world’s largest papaya producer and the market for products derived from papaya is growing year after year. In this study, the authors carried out the characterization and partial purification of the lipase obt...
